Training funded through the Learning and Skills Councils

The inspection of work-based learning, adult and community learning and colleges is changing! A new Ofsted came into being in April 2007 – the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills. The remit of this new inspectorate will include the remit of the former Adult Learning Inspectorate, along with the traditional remit of Ofsted and the inspections formerly carried out by the Commission for Social Care Inspection.

Some parts of inspection will however stay the same, the role of the nominee, inspection activities, reinspection, the grade profile (though the areas graded will change) and most importantly the best interests of the learner will remain central to Ofsted’s work.

Kevin Dowson has had over eight years of experience in inspecting work-based learning, adult and community learning and colleges and has built up significant experience both as a part-time and full-time inspector. Our associates continue to have a significant involvement across all the LSC contexts.

We are able to offer a wide-range of development and support activities, blended with your own quality improvement systems – from teaching observations to training assessors, planning of learning to progress reviews, pre-inspection guidance to post-inspection support.

Whatever your need, we offer a wide range of Masterclasses as part of our Striving for Excellence programme.
